Artist Statement

My ideology statement “I believe that when we’re born we already have our characteristics implanted in us. As we grow we study and imitate people’s actions within their habitats and use them as guides to help us. We then take the knowledge we have accumulated and we blend it all together to make ourselves fit within our ethnic groups, school communities, etc…” I used eyes, a mirror, measuring tape, and a parrot to represent how people accumulate knowledge through observation. The butterfly represents the transformation that occurs after you combine what you have learned. The blocks of color are representations of different observations. You start as a caterpillar observing your surroundings and then you transform into a butterfly of knowledge.
